The “Critterhood” is a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural collaboration of professionals who work with Dr. Patricia Crittenden’s Dynamic-Maturational Model (DMM) of attachment relationships. The notion of “critters” has several meanings.

In a literal sense, critters are little animals, real and imaginary, such as you see throughout this Web Page. Everyone who passes a reliability test or contributes in an important way to the DMM (with clinical cases, published data, helping others to access these ideas, etc.,) receives a unique handmade critter, cut from the hood of an old car and signed by the artist. In a symbolic sense, these critters hold us together across continents, time zones, and languages.

In a metaphorical sense, critters represent the many psychological organizations described by the Dynamic-Maturational Model. Finally, critters remind us not to take ourselves too seriously. Life and learning are fun.
